Sustainable Education Initiative: Greenhouse Development Project

This project was initiated by one of our former volunteers, Esther Rijk. Having volunteered with St. Catherine’s Childrens Center and Academy - a school and childrens home in the slum of Kibera - she identified the need for a high-school scholarship fund for the needy students. With her Rotary e-Club of Greater Melbourne connections, she started a fundraising program to kickstart the project.

As part of our committment to seeing our volunteers' projects grow and establish what they set out to do, Serah Mucha our Project Manager and PR Representative joined the Rotary e-Club of Greater Melbourne to see the project through. With the hard work put in by the club's members, funds were raised for the Green House Development project.

A little over AUD 9000 (half raised by the eClub and the other half matched by Rotary International) was raised for the project. We are happy to report that the implementation phase has begun with the purchase of materials and land clearing.

It is the spirit of such volunteers that help us carry through with our mission: To empower communities
