medical volunteer program

The Program

Village health facilities are very disadvantaged; they not only lack facilities but they also have limited medical personnel  . We are looking for committed medical professionals who can volunteer in village health facilities . The medical personnel will work alongside local staff and they will help them compliment the local staff in diagnosis , follow up and possible medical prescription while also helping to design and  implement preventive measures for ailments that affect the community mostly.

Responsibilities and areas of engagement

The volunteers will live in a rural homestay which has limited facilities so the volunteers are expected to be flexible and adventurous. The volunteer will get an opportunity to visit and also volunteer in other facilities which are within the radius of their station .
The volunteers will also work with community health volunteers to reach out to elderly and those who are not able to get to the health centre station.
This opportunity has a lot of walking and hiking though there is also motorbike transportation at the village

As teachers, it would also be your responsibility to ensure that the students achieve as much as they can within the Program and to help them realize that they are much more than their circumstances dictate. For those with knowledge on fundraising, you will be included in the efforts to ensure the sustainability of the program where you would be involved in activities such as gaining potential donors and convincing them to pledge continued support to our cause.

Skills and Qualifications

As a volunteer to the program you should have knowledge, skills and experience in the medical field. The volunteer fees help to cater for your local stay and also help build and support the program . The opportunity is open to groups of medical practitioners, students as well as individual persons. For groups it is also possible to arrange for medical camps which are in great need.

Orientation & Training

Each volunteer will receive a general orientation on the purpose of the organization. This is to say that you will be told about how the organization began, what it does and what it aims for. Other than this, each volunteer will also be informed of their placement,

their purpose and the requirements of the position that they are accepting. The volunteers will receive on-site support to ensure that the learning process proceeds as seamlessly as possible, as well as a specific on-the-job induction to ensure they have the necessary information to effectively perform their volunteer assignments.

Commitment Period

Each volunteer shall be committed to the program for a minimum period of 2(two) weeks and a maximum of 6(six) months.

interact with a whole new community with a different culture and in a different environment, an experience that is sure to expand your horizons and broaden your way of thinking.
